Bee-jaxxx here reporting from ye ol’ home of the Spartans…..well…not Sparta, but close enough-UNCG. So i totally should be studying for this big test tomorrow but I’m….procrastinating.

I’m ready together with some people from OCJCL that i have yet to see…Like..Nicholas….uhm…etc…lol
And I highly anticipate seeing all my old friends and most definitely those new faces at Fall Forum. Like, you guys better come, because that junk is CRAZY!! ahh those memories. Not to mention, free Caf food? Hello! crazy good pizza and salads…and CEREAL! just think of all the cereal mixes you can make. It’s become a past time here with some friends of mine, one being miss Emily Calder! former NJCL officer! she is amazing! you will all be seeing her at FF as well. YAY FOR SCLers!

Well, National Convention is less than a week away for us now. I think we’re all uber excited for this. We’ll have a TON of pictures from at least 3 cameras to post up, and we may do some posting/uploading/blogging from Miami University. We’ll write more later. Hope everyone’s doing great!

What a year for JCL! Everything Brittainy mentioned on the front page is true, and the truth makes us awesome. Though, she forgot to mention our 2nd place NATIONAL LOCAL DELEGATION WEBSITE!!! Thank you’s go out to Tremmel for starting this in ‘06, and to Bill for keeping it running and adding to it this past year.

So, Nationals is coming up for Brittainy, Leslie, Lauren, Cory, Bill, the Magistrae, and myself in barely over a month there. Much fun will be had by us. (Darn future perfect translations…..hey, we’re a LATIN club…) If there’s a computer there, I’ll try to post here at least once, maybe upload pictures to the gallery for the first time in forever…poor thing. *cough*cough* Sorry about that. A wad of long, hippy-gamer hair got caught in my throat.

I’ve finally *finished* uploading the pictures from Saturnalia. At least the ones from the second Chubby Bunny round. The others are on Maddie’s camera. Hopefully someone can get access to those and get them up. I also found and uploaded some pictures from the Rewards Cena/Mixer we had at the end of last *school* year.

WE STILL NEED FALL FORUM PICTURES!!!! Whoever has those, if you can’t put them up, please give them to someone who can and will!! If you have them and can put them up, then please do!! STATIM!!!

No one has posted anything, be it a picture, a blog post, or a front page announcement, for a long time. People need to get on this thing and start commenting or something. Of course, I haven’t checked out the fora yet, but it’ll likely be the same picture. Pictures are still needed of Fall Forum, which happened nearly a month ago now, it’ll be a month next Monday! I know they’re out there……those pictures will be found and put in our gallery….you can’t hide forever…..

Game on peoples! Today, all you new peoples get a taste of what JCL is TRULY like!!! If JCL was a sport, this would be the beginning, at least for NCJCLers like us. Today, you will have fun. You will meet new people. You will find GLORY!! Wellllll…..maybe not the glory…..don’t get your hopes up about glory. Bah. Negativity gone. Basically, today will be *UNDERSTATEMENT ALERT!!!!1!* great.

Okay, there were like 12 people in my room this morning yelling about Latin!  YES!  We ARE going to take over the world…again.

For real, Certamen is going great guns — multos kudos to Nick, Elizabeth, and SoloBastien (Solomon and Sebastien, of course!) for getting this thing kick-started.  Cory and Megan showed up the other day, and this morning it looked like all of the above PLUS Alex, Alek, Lindsay, Ari, and some others that I didn’t have time to identify before I was kicked out (and Elena had a Dr. appt. and couldn’t make it).  Gratias maximas ago to Nick for running Certamen on Thursday mornings, when I have a dept. PLC meeting.  He is a fabulous Magister Certaminis, and you guys should give him a serious Roman salute the next time you see him.

So, all you Certamen Crunchy-types out there — READ, READ, READ!  Read the fine print; read the extra paragraphs in your textbook; read a random few pages from one of the books that Magistra Murray and I have lying around; read an extra mythology story or two; read the history timeline in the front/back of the book; read the grammar section of your textbook (GASP!!!) — just READ!

Okay, time for class.  You guys all have a great (LOOONG) weekend, and I’ll see you Tuesday morning — or Thursday morning — or next SATURDAY on the BUS!  WOO-HOO!

Well, after today, I’m psyched about Certamen this year. For Fall Forum, as you all saw, there are at least 4 people playing Certamen at each level!

Now, that may not excite some of you as much as it does the Master. However, seeing that today meant one thing: FULL TEAMS AT EACH LEVEL!! And we will most likely add to those numbers as the year goes on. I know that there are already at least 6 people lined up for Intermediate, which is a COMPLETELY full team of 4 + 2 alternates.

Based on the Fall Forum Certamen list, we also have a full 4-man Novice and Upper team as well, both of which will certainly grow. I know for a fact that the Upper team has 4 + 1 because one of our Uppers is unable to come to FF.

For all people in Certamen, our next official practice will be on Thursday, November 15. That’s next Thursday, before Fall Forum. Novice will be practicing at Orange with Mrs. Murray, and Intermediate and Upper will practice at Cedar Ridge with Mrs. Peretti. As it says on the agenda, those practices will run from 4:30 to 5:30.

To all Cedar Ridge Certamen players, or any CR JCLers, we are holding morning Certamen practices in Mrs. Peretti’s room every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00-8:35 (The very first bell of the day). This is just to help get more people prepared, expand our knowledge of the Latin language, mythology, and history, and, of course, to have fun. I am not sure if anything like this is going on at Orange at the moment. If any of you are interested in holding morning practices to get some extra Certamen time in, talk to Mrs. Murray.
