Like.

3rd Declension people are the emo kids because you can never tell their gender just by looking.

The ablative people are those hippies/nomads, always going places and doing things...(to/from means/manner)

Ok, so finally an update to this chart. Thank you Cory.

Nominative people are the subject of everything.
Accusative people always have something happening to them.
Vocative people have so few others that care that they never show up.
Genitive people possess and own everything you see.
Ablative people....nothing yet
Dative people are advertisers and salespeople. They're always trying to give you something, show you something, or tell you about something.

1st Declension people are often feminine but sometimes can be very masculine
2nd Declension people are the most masculine people out there.
3rd Declension people are a neuter(ed) bunch.
4th Declension people like "U".
5th Declension people ride the E-bus.

1st Conjugation people are 'A' easy bunch to understand.
2nd Conjugation people.....
3rd Conjugation people are so mixed up they scare everyone.
4th Conjugation people don't do anything unless it focuses on "I" (themselves).

Anyone have ideas for 2nd conjugation people and ablative people? Need a shorter and better description of ablative people Cory...

Cory,

This can be done via the forum software. If you make a topic a favorite, it will email you when it gets updated. There is also a plugin that will allow people to opt in to getting email notifications for any new post on the forum. The only thing is people would have to be registered on the forum.

There is also an RSS feature to all topics, but I don't think anyone is interested in that...

I'm probably looking forward to the Ultimate Frisbee and chess events most. And -(nerd alert)- taking the tests, assuming that I have studied for them. The dances, the spirit chaos, the being away from home with friends, and just having a great time. Anything I left out? But I'm NOT looking forward to the dramatic inerpretation...that much. Rrrggh. Memorization. Work. Nuts. But it shall be fun, or I will make it fun with own bare hands!! HUZZAH!!!

This is already in the "why is no one here?" topic since I saw that one first, but it belongs here-

Step 1- We devise a simple, undeniable, effective way of communication - e.g. email

Step 2- Someone contacts everyone equally (mass email). --> At the same time, a post goes on the website with certain important information, as well as something that the email told everyone to look for ASAP.

Step 3- Everyone contacts the email sender ASAP after reading the important info. First couple to do so get a small but cool prize (thrift store, $2 bills, $1 coins) -Email sender cannot contact himself...-

Step 4- Repeat (randomly/every few weeks/per important update) until we all get the hang of it
->perhaps prizes get bigger, or add in that the last one to reply is asked to sing a public song like "I'm a Little Teapot"
at the next meeting, or prizes incorporate more Latin themes.

Step 5- OCJCL has an active, awesome, and fun website which is visited frequently and loved always.

Perhaps...

Dative people are salespeople: always trying to tell you about and show you a new thing that they give to you because it's their purpose
Everybody else is Ablative. They are always around helping people feel complete while at the same time making it all so confusing. But we need them.

5th Declension people ride the E-bus... (thank you Alex)

2nd Declension people are like ablative people- no one notices them next to their scary look-alike neighbors, but we need them and their sane presence all the same

Perhaps it would be a good idea to get a big meeting for nationals like this together VERY SOON. If at all possible, we could bring frisbees and other fun things, but more importantly we should bring the nationals people and whatever they might need for national activities (arts and crafts, memorization, books, tests, chess, etc). I just got home from a spectacular month in the mountains, and I refuse to get bored. ACTIVATE YOURSELVES!!!!

You know... the people who aren't on the site...don't read the posts telling them to come back and do stuff...that are on the site... So. Possible solution- Devise a reliable way to contact everyone (like email) and contact them all simultaneously. At the same time, someone posts something on the site that everyone is told in the email to look at or for. Those who reply correctly first might get something like a $2 bill or 2 $1 coin from my pocket/bank. Or the ones who reply last might be ("forcefully") offered 25 minutes of studying Latin-or something. It would probably be a good idea to imbed whatever everyone is looking for within important information, such as meeting, mixer or fee reminders. Just an idea. Whoa-kinda long. WORD OUT!!!!

Kay, so
in taking my first(and quite possibly, last) lesson in Latin III today,
Magistra Murray was going over verbs.
The verb was praefero..meaning to carry ahead...
well,
Knowing me, I initially thought it was...well...to carry a head...like...a human head.
So. thatis whatI imagined.
Ithink thatall us artsy folks should like...collaborate andsubmit something to State that involves little mnemonic devices with cute little pictures to help us remember the words and their meanings.
Who's upfor it?

Ok, well, the State Convention is a convention for all JCL chapters in North Carolina to get together ( a larger Fall Forum if you will). It's spread over two days - Friday and Saturday. Friday is more of a get-to-know people time, and Saturday is when everything competition-wise happens. The number of things to do is MUCH more numerous than at Fall Forum, and includes:

Dramatic Interpretation
Latin Sight Reading
Certamen Finals
Art Competitions
Costume Competition
Essay Competition
Academic Tests
and many Olympika events.

As the time draws closer, we will probably have more meetings for those going to the convention, to get things together and work on what people have signed up for. It is a heck of a lot of fun, you meet cool people, and just hang out with other Latin people.

Here...finally...after a long jcl.org absence. I still remember them though. Here they are:

Nominative people are the subject of everything.
Accusative people always have something happening to them.
Vocative people have so few others that care that they never show up.
Genitive people possess and own everything you see.
Ablative people....nothing yet
Dative people....nothing yet

1st Declension people are often feminine but sometimes can be very masculine
2nd Declension people are the most masculine people out there.
3rd Declension people are a neuter(ed) bunch.
4th Declension people like "U".
5th Declension people....

1st Conjugation people are 'A' easy bunch to understand.
2nd Conjugation people.....
3rd Conjugation people are so mixed up they scare everyone.
4th Conjugation people don't do anything unless it focuses on "I" (themselves).

Some of this I *just* came up with, and yet it fits. I've just got a few things that I can't think of....which are obvious ones on the list. Hope these help!!
